ANZAC Rotations

  1. On the 25th April we are going to be celebrating ANZAC day. We have been learning about the history of ANZAC day and how it all began. ANZAC means Australia, New Zealand Army Corp. We learnt that the poppy came to symbolise this day because of all the poppies in Flanders Field. This is where the soldiers who died in World War 1 are buried. During this war, the wives of soldiers sent them Anzac biscuits because the ingredients didn’t spoil and the biscuits could be sent on the plane easily.
We have been doing a Tararua Team rotation. We have gone to Miss Witton to make ANZAC cookies. Then, we have gone to Mrs Smith to make our very own ANZAC medal. Mrs Mac read us a true story about the war and then we made a poppy. When we went to Mr Southerland, we got to pretend that we were training for war and had to complete an obstacle course. Ms Seywell taught us about the New Zealand flag and then we got to make our own flag that was unique to us.
